Flatt Cola
Hiebing
"Flatt Energy Cola was dreamed up and schemed up by a couple of college grads in Madison, Wisconsin. A little spicy and a lot smooth, Flatt takes a turn from the average energy drink by acknowledging the obvious: very few people are actually going to go cliff jumping or dirt biking. People simply need a boost of sugar, caffeine and vitamin C to overcome the lulls and lags in their day. Accordingly, Flatt's packaging features the time-tested technique to dominating boredom: Doodles. Done with a convivial “elbow in the ribs,” these doodles combine with an electric color palette to relay an intense appreciation for everyday individuality."

The hand crafted imagery on the Flatt cola cans and limited colour palette work really, it is also nice to see that the hand rendered imagery/type continues on the box packaging for the cans.

“Esslack is food coloring in a spray can. With the two colors of gold and silver finishes it’s a delectable delight of all kinds.”

Although the product itself seems quite strange...spray paint for food, I really like the packaging. The combination of structured type and solid shapes with hand crafted type with an unstructured layout works well. Its also good to see that, just because the product is for food it hasn't automatically put a photograph of good on the can and left it there.
