Garofalo
Angelini Design
At the Salone del Gusto 2010, Garofalo pasta presents its special packaging entitled “Eco-sustainability according to us: welcome to the number zero”, designed by Angelini Design with an essential, frugal and spontaneous approach which can be seen in the hand-written treatment of the name. A new eco-sustainable packet with biodegradable wrapping and "zero food miles" spaghetti, using wheat cultivated and processed in Campania, a transparent pack that allows the pasta itself to play the leading role.'

This pasta packaging is very minimilistic but it works perfectly well, as the lovelypackage.com write up says - the intention is for the pasta to take the leading role - the hand drawn type is 'nice' to look at, but the important thing is that you can see what you're buying.

Yum
Eido Gat
"Yum is a food brand for people without free time to cook. Instead of eating the garbage you'll usually find in cafeterias, yum allows you to have good, fresh food everyday. The project includes about 40 different packagings for various dishes you can assemble yourself for a full meal. The meals are comprised of 5 different parts: a 'big' dish, and 'extra dish, a pastry, a sauce/dip, and a soup."

This project is actually by a student but I still wanted to use it as a context reference because its a really nice example of how hand crafted type can work on a 3D object, in this case - packaging. Although I do love minimal colour (specifically black and white)...I do think this either needs More black and white type or it needs some colour.
