Vectorise packaging design

While researching food packaging, something that I came across a lot was the use of vectorised packaging. What I found interesting about, this is that it is obviously a successful design style at the moment and for that reason its very popular, but the fact that so many people are using it makes me believe that it may just be a trend. It would be great if it wasn't because in my opinion it works really well, but on the other hand it may become overused and lose its popularity.
