Black and White illustration context

2 tone/black and white illustration has been something that I have enjoyed doing and admiring for some time. Much of my illustration work is black and white and I often add colour as an 'after thought'. Purely black and white illustration is a design direction that I intend to use in one of the briefs (i.e. the Identity London watch brief - I will produce b/w illustrations and the colour will come from images of the watches to highlight the boldness.)

I then found this article in Digital Arts magazine (March 2011 issue) which is a good starting point for the design context aspect.
